[Free Download] Vision Checklist

You can download a copy of my vision checklist here.

One thing I continue to learn throughout life is that you need a clear vision to make progress. This is true for every area of our lives; it’s why vision boards are so popular these days!

However, vision isn’t simply flipping through a magazine and looking for pictures of Santorini.

Vision is active, and has three characteristics:

  1. Vision is bigger than you
  2. Vision can be scary
  3. Vision requires faith

If you’re ready to earn more money and believe freelancing could be a path for you, get crystal clear on your vision. And not just your vision for freelancing, but how freelancing fits into the rest of your life.

Each year, I create a new vision. Below, I’ve outlined the steps I use. This framework has been incredibly effective for me, and I hope you find it valuable as well.

  1. I get quiet and pray. I realize everyone is not a person of faith, but true vision is way bigger than anything we could ever dream up for ourselves.
  2. I ask. I ask God to give me vision for the next season. I don’t want to get caught up, “trying to figure it out.” I ask for clarity directly from the source.
  3. I let it marinate. Once I download the vision, I sit with it for a bit, maybe a week, maybe a month. Remember, if a vision is big enough, it can be scary! Also, vision isn’t easily attainable, because if it was, it would simply be a goal. I sit with it to be sure the vision is from God, and not my ego.
  4. I write it down. First in my journal, then in a doc in my Google drive, then in my online note-taking tool, then in a note on my phone. I want to have a copy everywhere I turn.
  5. I record an audio version. I then take my vision and record a voice note on my phone and listen to it as often as possible, typically in the mornings when my brain is fresh.
  6. I create a vision board. After I’ve done all this, I put visuals to it. This year, I used a template on Canva to create it digitally. I then had it printed, poster size, and shipped directly to me. It now hangs on my wall beside my bed and I see it each morning when I wake up.
  7. I plaster it everywhere. Not only it is by my bed, but it’s also my screen saver on my phone.
  8. I “obsess” over it. I revisit it over, and over, and over. If you’ve read anything about the basics of manifesting, or the law of attraction, you have to obsess over your vision.

This is an exercise that you can use as often as necessary to get clear on where you’re going before planning how you’re going to get there.
